How to Fix Popped Nails

Nails are designed to keep things in place. They are simple devices, yet very effective. In fact, it is recommended to keep them handy for many of the home projects you will be carrying out in your task of keeping your home in the best possible state.

Even though today screws and power drivers are the preferred tools to install walls, there was a time where nails were the tool of preference to attach wallboard to the lumber studs that create the frame for the walls.

There special nails for walls were design to keep everything in place. Yet, the law of the universe always opts for things going out of order and out of place, no matter how hard you try to keep them otherwise. Thus, we present to you a basic guide to keeping those nails in place. To accomplish this you will need a few tools, including a claw hammer, drywall nails, a putty knife, joint compound, sanding paper, and a piece of cloth.

Let's get started. The first step is to do preparation work, which means wearing the right protective gear and protecting the floor from any debris that may fall.

Now, it's to put the nail back into the dry wall by hammering it in. Then, apply a second hit to create a small dimple. The secret is not to pound hard. The next step is to drive a second nail next to the first one to hold the first one in place and to create second dimple.

Next, use a putty knife to apply the joint compound over the two nail heads/dimples. Smooth the surface up and let it dry. When the surface is dry, clean the remaining dust and now, finally, you are ready to apply the primer and repaint.
